About the Job

We are seeking a part-time Legal Assistant (4 days/week, 32 hours/week) to join our on-site team in Seattle, WA. The position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about supporting access to justice and growing their understanding of our legal system. The Legal Assistant will support attorneys and law clerks by:

Managing administrative tasks
Preparing initial drafts of legal documents
Organizing and maintaining case and client files;
Managing/updating firm and attorney calendars with hearings, deadlines, and other appointments;
Reviewing and providing feedback on briefing in state and federal courts (both trial and appellate briefs);
Communicating with clients' medical providers to acquire medical records for use in litigation;
Attending client meetings with law clerks and attorneys to ensure alignment on case goals and timelines;
Ability to offer to and receive from constructive feedback from colleagues;
Coordinating and communicating with clients, including helping new clients in the consultation and intake process.

Suggested Qualifications

We think you'll excell in this role if you have:

Proficiency in Document Preparation (especially Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Outlook)
Experience in customer-facing service role (retail, food service, reception, etc.)
Strong written communication skills
Detail-oriented and capable of handling sensitive information with confidentiality
Ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to work in a collaborative environment
Ability to pass a background check (or to provide sufficient character references or other information demonstrating the ability to manage confidential information)
Associate's degree (or equivalent training)

Salary & Benefits

Hourly wage: $24/hr to $30/hr (depending on experience in clerical/administrative assistant setting)
Generous paid time off policy starting at 14 days paid vacation time annually (including one week in summer and one week in winter) for full time staff.
Transportation benefit (ORCA Card)
Potential for hybrid work (upon approval after training period concludes)
Potential for bonuses at specific firm revenue milestones (subject to needs of cases and actual revenue earned).

Though this is a part-time position, our goal is to transition the successful candidate into a full time role.
